Wonderweb Technologies Backup Policy

Last Updated: 30/04/2026

Welcome! We want to be completely open with you about how backups work. This isn’t just legal language — it’s our way of helping you avoid losing important data. Please take a moment to read it, and if anything feels unclear, you’re always welcome to reach out to us on WhatsApp.

By using our sites (www.wonderweb.host or www.wonderweb.co.zw), you agree to this policy.

Table of Contents

1. Your Responsibility for Backups

We kindly ask that you take care of your own backups. You are responsible for keeping complete, up‑to‑date copies of your files, databases, emails, and any other data stored on our servers. It’s a good habit to save at least one copy somewhere else — for example, on your own computer or a separate cloud service.

If you ever accidentally delete something, please understand that we may not be able to recover it from our systems. That’s why having your own backup is so important.

Think about what matters most to you. If you run an online store, your product list and customer orders are irreplaceable. If you have a blog, your posts and images are what make it yours. We don’t know what you value — only you do — so keeping a local copy is always the safest approach.

2. Our Internal Backups

We perform regular backups of hosting accounts as part of our internal disaster recovery procedures. These backups help us restore services in the event of server failures, hardware issues, software problems, or other infrastructure-related incidents.

While these backups may occasionally assist with data recovery, they are primarily intended to support service continuity and platform recovery. As such, clients should maintain their own backups of important files, databases, and emails.

If data is lost due to client actions, such as accidental deletion, modification, or corruption of files, we may not be able to provide a backup copy. Any restoration from our internal backup systems is performed on a best-effort basis and cannot be guaranteed.

Typically, we keep weekly backups for around four weeks. However, these can be rotated, overwritten, or removed as part of normal system maintenance. So it’s best not to assume that a backup from a specific date will always be there.

For VPS and dedicated servers, automated backups are not included unless a separate backup service or add-on has been purchased.

3. How to Restore Your Own Backups

If you’ve been saving your own backups (which we hope you have!), you can restore them easily through cPanel:

  • Log in to your cPanel account.
  • Go to the Backup or Backup Wizard section.
  • Upload your backup files and restore your website, databases, or emails.

If you’re ever unsure how to create or download a backup, just ask our support team. We have simple video tutorials we can share — no pressure, no judgment. We’re here to help you help yourself.

Our internal disaster recovery backups are not available for clients to restore directly — they’re really just for us to fix major issues on our side.

4. Limitations & Liability

We take reasonable steps to maintain our backup systems; however, no backup solution can guarantee recovery in every situation.

  • Clients are responsible for maintaining their own backups of important data.
  • We do not guarantee the availability, completeness, or recoverability of any backup copy.
  • Any restoration from our internal backup systems is provided on a best-effort basis.
  • We are not liable for data loss resulting from accidental deletion, file corruption, security incidents, software failures, or other events beyond our reasonable control.

5. Recommendations

To keep your data nice and safe, here’s what we recommend:

  • Download a full account backup from cPanel (Backup → Download a Full Account Backup) at least once a week.
  • Take a manual backup before making big changes to your site — like updating a CMS, installing plugins, or editing code.
  • Store your backups in a different place than our servers, such as your local computer, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
  • Test your backups every now and then to make sure they actually work when you need them.
  • Try setting a recurring calendar reminder — every Sunday evening, for instance. Many clients find that a simple weekly routine saves a lot of heartache later on.

6. A Note on What We Typically Don’t Do

We like to be upfront about the kinds of requests we usually can’t help with. This way, you’re never caught off guard.

In most cases, we are unable to restore a single file, database, or email from our internal backups simply because it was deleted or changed by mistake. We also generally don’t search through old backup sets to find a specific version of something. Our backup systems are designed for larger recoveries — like after a server problem — rather than for undoing small accidental changes.

Again, this is exactly why we encourage you to keep your own backups. That way, you stay in full control.
